Kimi's Story
I left Johnson only a few weeks after my jr yr started. I had been at Einstein jr hi in Rosemont area-kicked out for slapping Mr. Mays-finished 9th at Kit Carson then off 2 Reno 2 Proctor R. Hug hi for my sophomore yr. where I dropped out the last quarter. At Johnson I was suspended "pending psychological evaluation" even though I was already seeing a psychiatrist. The rest of the 1st semester of my jr. year was spent at a private school-PeachTree-South on Mayhew. It consisted of several portables parked on a muddy field with a couple of "honey buckets" and an old chicken coup where we hung out smoking dope. At Encina finally, I managed to graduate June 5th, 1974 w a B avg. (either I was smart or school was too easy-lol). June 7th I flew to Anchorage praying to find a job and get help to become a nun. June 9th I met a man-Warren Malach-studying to become a priest-we were married Oct. 26 and are still! Anchorage to Sacto to Seattle w a trip to the Mid-East in between. 1976 to Tacoma for hubby Lutheran seminary then Spokane then in the blizzard/coal strike of '78 drove cross country in a 24' U-Haul towing r car! Ft Wayne, IN for more seminary then KS for internship and back to sem then ministry in MO then back to Seattl...Expand for more
e in 1990. My hubby was in the ministry for 25 yrs. While in MO I grad. cum laude w degree in Psych and minor in Ed. In Seattle to Grad School for double Masters in Theology and Psychology. Private Practice from 1995 to present. No kids. Lots of troubles but the goodness of God has always carried us thru. The joy of the Lord is my strength so I am now, Joy St. John instead of Kimi Malach.
Addendum: March 2012 Mom in Roseville, sick. Hubby had been talking about moving to CA so we did it--driving 26' Penske towing car (our 5th overland move w truck and God help us our last). Had to move 3 times since arriving, severe income loss. We have come full circle in 38 yrs now living less than 2 blocks from the church where we married and still walking distance from Encina where I graduated. We are oh so happy to have arrived and spent this time with my Mom. She died Sat. Oct. 27, 2012 at the age of 91 yrs and 10 mos. She was a great lady and everyone who knew her loved her. She had a profound spiritual awakening in her last weeks so I have great joy in knowing I will dance with her on streets of gold one day. Wanna dance with us? See you then at St. Andrew Lutheran Church at Mack Rd and Center Parkway some Sunday at 10 am soon!!
