Kirk's Story

Life I graduated Grade 12 BBSS in 1975. That summer I moved to London, Ont. where I attended London Central Secondary School. I graduated Grade 13 in spring 1976. I attended Fanshawe College Law & Security Administration. Unfortunately I only completed one semester. I worked at Dennison Uranium Mines In Elliot Lake for half a year and then went back to London and worked for a pipeline company until the spring of 77. I joined the Canadian Armed Forces and did basic training in CFB Cornwallis N.S. and trades training in CFB Kingston. I served a year in CFS Inuvik NWT. I left the military in 1980 at which time I joined the RCMP. I did my basic training at the RCMP academy in Regina for 6 months. I graduated from there in the spring of 1981. I was posted to Manitoba where I served in 5 different detachments until I was transferred to Ontario. I served two and a half years at Toronto Lester B. Pearson Airport. In July 1997 I was ransferred to Hamilton-Niagara Regional Detachment. I was attached to the Federal Enforcement Section where I still am posted. My specialty is copyright and trademark issues. This involves primarily counterfeit computer software, music, movies, clothing, jewelry etc. Basically anything that is counterfeited. My one thing I did thus far that I did that was a very good experience was serving with the United Nations in Kosovo from June 15th 2001 to March 16th 2002. I taught and then monitored members of the Kosovo Police Service. I was posted to a city called Prizren in Southern Kosovo close to the Albanian and Macedonian borders. I may be going to Jordan to teach Iraqis at the Internat...Expand for more
ional Police School in Amman, Jordan this coming summer 2005 On September 12th, 1981 I had the honour of marrying Bonnie Dickenson of Hamilton, Ontario. We will have our 25th wedding anniversary in 2006. We have four sons ages 21, 19, 7 and 4. Just didn't know when to quit. So that is about it. I am considering retiring from the RCMP next year and moving on to another career in the security investigations area. Lot of thinking to do on that yet. I am also a reserve officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. I hold the rank of Captain. I work with a cadet unit which I will be taking command of this coming spring 2005. So, I do manage to keep myself out of trouble. My main hobbies are 35mm and digital photography and police patch collecting. At last count 1 had 2,600 patches from around the world. Well, if you got this far thank you for visiting. I hope all is well with you all and that life has treated you kindly. Take care and stay safe. 2012-02-17 Time to update. I did not get to go to Jordan as I had hoped I would but c''est la vie. Life is still good. I am still with the RCMP. I have about a year and a half left before I reach my full 35 years of federal service with my military and RCMP time combined. I have been putting out resumes with various companies that can utilize my anti counterfeiting skills so if one of those connects I may retire a little earlier. I have to say I have enjoyed the ride and will be a bit sad when it comes time to hang up the spurs. I have been proud of my time in, where I have gone and what I have done. Thats it for now.. Take care and stay safe. Kirk Campbell
