Kris's Story
After high school, I went to Soumi College in Hancock, MI. I graduated in 1985 with an Associates in Recreation & Leisure Services. I met (1984) and married (1986) Bill O'Connor.
For most of the time since, I have been a homemaker, and homeschool mom.
We have 13 children now (ages 21 - 9mo. as of 10/08). (The "now" photo above was taken right after # 13 was born).
We lived in South Haven, MI for 10 years while Bill taught at Covert High School. We built a home we called Maplewood. While there we attended both First Baptist of South Haven and Maple Grove Bible Church.
In 1996, we moved to Houghton, MI to work as volunteer staff with Campus Crusade for Christ at MTU. Bill got a teaching position at Dollar Bay High School that has enabled us to live here. We attend Evangel Baptist Church in Houghton, where we attended while in college.
In 2006, most of our children began attending the Copper Country Christian School. I still homeschool 2 and have 2 pre-schoolers at hom...Expand for more

I also started working as a manager and cashier at a small local grocery store. It has been a nice change, and I love getting to know so many people.
My oldest son, Josh, is going to school in St Paul, MN at the McNally Smith School of Music. The next one, Jared, is in the National Guard and will be going to Afghanistan soon. Justin (#3) is working in Grand Rapids, MI as a Mason's assistant (at Tender).
We have been trying to let our kids have experience in short term missions. So far we have sent kids to :
Alaska (Josh & Justin)
Peru & Mexico (Jared)
Nepal & Ecuador (Justin)
Malawi & Ethiopia (Rachel)
Maybe I'll get to go, someday.
Since having my 13th (Gabrielle) in Jan. of 2008, I've been dealing with sciatica, mostly on the left side, but also now on the right. What has helped the most so far (after a doctor, physical therapy, chiropractic, and acupuncture) is Myofacial Release that is done by one of my chiroprachtors. I am hoping to continue getting better.
