Krisna's Story

I've been living in Tukwila, WA with my long time boyfriend/fiancé for 20 years. We've talked about marriage, but why mess with a good thing. Actually, my health problems keep getting in the way, but we will get married eventually. I had had my second kidney transplant in 1989. Which caused me to miss a lot of school. My Junior year was the only year I attended KM for the entire year. Even then I only had Sophomore credits. I was too far behind to finish high school in public school so I went to Green River Community College for about a year and then my kidney went into rejection. So I had to stop going. I got my GED in 1996 at Highline. I had been trying to get an AAS in accounting, but I kept having health complications. Every time I would get ready to register for classes I would end up in the hospital. I've had a total of 4 kidney transplants now and I almost died 3 times in December of 2002 with my heart actually stopping on December 8th during emergency surgery after my small intestine ruptured. I can't have children due to my health, but I enjoy spoiling my 15 year old niece, Kaya; 11 year old nephew, Kincaid; 5 year old niece, Alayna; 4 year old niece, Samantha; 2 year old nephew, Anthony and 1 year old niece, Bailey. I am extremely close to my family. I spend a lot of time with my 3 younger sisters. They are my best friends. I do dialysis 3 days a week for 3 hours each time. I go Monday, Wednesday and Friday. do volunteer work for the Northwest Kidney Foundation as well as the National Kidney Foundation. I don't want another transplant at this point. They're making so many advances with dialysis that I am doing well with it. Well, that's pretty much it in a nutshell. I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me. I am also working on a book about my life as a kidney patient. I was diagnose with Chronic Kidney Disease at age 7 after going into congestive heart failure. Thank God, I was already in the hospital because I don't believe I would be here today. I am also trying to write a newspaper article for a couple of publications for people with Kidney Disease. It keeps me busy and I can work on the computer while I do my dialysis treatment. I don't think about the bad parts of dialysis. I just thank God that it's an option because my great-great grandmother died of the same kidney disease I have. I have been through a lot of other stuff since high school. Too much to list here. I'm not as shy as I was in school, but I'm still quiet. I live life day by day and do whatever I can to help my friends and family. Especially my family. I loved the year that was able to attend high school. I had the pleasure of having many great people in my classes. I am currently taking a Genealogy class online. I am hoping to pursue this as a career. I have researched my own family for about 15 years and am now trying to learn how to do it better.
