Kristy's Story
On Januray 12th, 2008 my husband and I welcomed our little angel Sierra into the world. At 6 lbs and 4 oz she came into the world screaming and did not stop for six months. She was a colic baby... and after mommy taking an extended leave of absence from work (9 months), many many many many many doctor visits, followed by specialist visits, and a trip to Jacksonville's Nemours Hospital, she was diagnosed with severe GERD. Sierra was started on prevacid, started seeing a speech therapist (to help with the swallowing issues that were caused by the reflux), and became a child that did not cry all the time anymore. FINALLY after showing out in most every doctor's office my daughter is better!!! There is nothing worse for a mother then to not be able to console your child that cries continously while in your heart knowing that something is not right with your child and having no one in the medical community listen to you. My best advise for any mother that may be in my situati...Expand for more
on is to make sure that you are heard. Be an advocate for your child and do not give up no matter what!!! Also if you live in or around Dothan, AL I highly recommend Dr Craig Adams with Southeastern Pediatriacs he is Sierra's (and my) God send.
Since having Sierra I now know what is meant by a mother's love. There is absolutely nothing that I would not do for my baby. She is my pride and joy and thanks to the colic will be an only child!!!
I have finally returned back to work at Southern Care Hospice where I have been employed as an RN for 2 years. I can actually say that I LOVE going to work every day, and there is nothing else in the world that I would rather do. Although, there are days that are harder then others I value to courage, love, dedication, and wisdom that I have witnessed through working with some wonderful patients and families. I feel honored and lucky to have met some wonderful individuals as well as their families, even if it is only for a short time.
