Kurt's Story
After our senior year was over, I went into the Navy and spent 6 years as a nuclear plant electrician's mate. After that I went to work for TVA at a nuc plant in Alabama. I bought a house, had a dog, worked a lot etc... I learned how to road race motorcyles at Road Atlanta. I did this as an amatuer until 1996. Got layed off(1990) and moved to Painesville, Ohio working for First Energy at one of their nuc plants. Continued racing and riding, and the other stuff that goes along with being a single man with no bills. This job I quit in march of 98 and was married in May of that year. I had a residential roofing business going on. We were DINK for a year before we got pregnant with our first child. He was born in 2000. Our second child was born in 2004. Now a days, I'm a plant supervisor for AEP. My son is 10 and can almost look me in the eye. My daughter is 6 and she is hell on wheels. My wife is a saint for putting up with us. s cave in march of 08. We had some decent rainfall, so there was quite a bit of water coming over the falls.
I always wanted to be a astronaut when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a bad idea. As it turns out, they were hosed.
Nowadays I blow off steam by hiking with the kids near Marietta, Cutting the field, sipping a beer in the evening listening to the turkeys gobble.
My hero would be my dad. Back then we butted heads, but have since realized the great person that he is having fought in three wars and raising us kids.
My career aspirations have changed over the years, I'm driven now to spend more time with the family then fixing problems at work. It will be there when I get back.
I share my home with 2 collies, which I find to be the biggest affection hogs going..
My first job was at Conrad Co. Inc., where I got paid 2.50/hr to assemble industrial heating tapes, blankets, and hoses. What I remember most about it is the boss had a daughter that was the biggest flirt.
