Lance's Story
School
I did highschool just right. I wouldn't change anything, nerdy as it may have been. Besides, if i did i wouldn't be who i am today (and i sure as hell don't want to change that!)
My apologies to:
Mr Roswell for putting chalk in his coffee on a regular basis. Also for sticking gummy bears on the walls/ceiling/chalkboard.
Mr Kleinrath for being a smart smart-ass. But in a good way.
Mrs <forgot, history teach> for jamming the doorlock so we couldn't get into class.
Jason Saffold for picking on him everyday
Adam- same thing
Jeff 'mooch'- thanks actually for being the human garbage disposal.
College
Quick college summary:
Florida Tech: 92-94 (geekoid physics major)
UCSB: 94-97 (5 year plan and major change)
UCI: 2000-03 (grad school courtesy of band-aids, tylenol, & epo)
FIT: i remember eating 4 burgers for lunch covered in thousand island dressing, the same for dinner, and sitting around playing video games. Pretty much for my entire freshmen year. w/o gaining weight(Now I just look at oatmean and gain weight.) Then sophmore year i was off the meal plan and ate ramen, hot dogs, mac & cheese, and PB&J for a year (and sneaked a few morsels from my roommates- sorry guys, i was really hungry). ALso remember playing video games until 4am and getting up at noon (when my crazy-ass ROTC roommate(brian) would be finished with classes). It was ni...Expand for more
ce and toasty in florida that's for sure.
UCSB: Back to CA and subsidized tuition! Santa Barbara was great, roller blading at night, getting shot down, doing good in school without trying, and getting the electricity shut off (opps, forgot about that bill). I apologize to my roommate in the summer of 1995, we paid $250/mo in rent but charged him $150 to sleep on our couch. Hey, i was an econ major. Just laying the groundwork for the future!
UCI: not exactly the college experience, GSM/Biz school was a commuter time for me. Work 7am-4pm, drive 1.5 hr to irvine, eat (part of tuition!), class till 10pm, drive home and start sleeping at 11:30. Repeat. For some reason i decided to get my pilot's license (and scuba cert) at the same time. I thought it was going to be easy, like driver's ed. Not. But hey, that's what our 20's are for. We don't need sleep! Group SD rocks! Remeber the cookies, teriyaki chicken, and all those bottledwater we/i'd steal?
Workplace
errr... I'm in the middle of a career switch. Have been doing the IT thing (go figure right?) for about 10 years and made middle management, Woo-hoo. Even i admit it, overpaid and underworked. I just started my own company doing real estate development and have my first subdivision underway. I'm liking it so far, but i still have to keep my day/old job to pay the bills until my new path takes off. Yeah!
