Larry's Story
I am currently back home in Alaska working as the lead teacher and principal in an elementary school for SED ( severly emotionally disturbed ) kids. My wife, Michelle, and I have been married for over 21 years and have two sons, Ben ( 21 ) and Gabe (17 ). We live out of town in the hills and woods northwest of Fairbanks.
After graduation I continued to follow my dream of playing and coaching soccer by traveling and playing in various parts of the world. In 1992 I got my break and was the assistant men's coach at UCSB and in 1994 I was named the head women's coach at Central Washington. From there I became to first women's coach at the U of Idaho for four seasons from 1998-2001. I was also involved in the ODP program and the Washington and Idaho State programs. I was gone every month but December and it was getting tough with two boys and Michelle working. We were offered jobs ( with much less travel! ) back home in Alaska, so we packed up back to the North Country and have been here ever since. Michelle works for the University of Alaska, Gabe is in Grade 11, and Ben is in college after a stint playing soccer in Holland and in college. He plans on doing Aliyah and going to med school in Israel. Gabe wants to take over the world and be a benevolent ruler with lots if robots. Don't they all!
For my 50th birthday we built a sauna and are loving it. I am still coaching and my Girls U-19 team won state three years ago and my mens team won state this summer. We are all doing well and healthy and hope the same for all our frends. Drop a line if you find me! Shalom!
