Larry's Story
Life
I just barely made it through Mr. West's 7th grade history class. Spanish with Mr. Jones in 8th grade wasn't much better. Math was a highpoint until I ran into the 10th grade Algebra roadblock. Auto shop, drafting and printing made life bearable for me.
Most of my high school memories are actually Intermediate School memories. I hated high school, only doing what I needed to do to get by. The hill parties were good back then and I did my best to attend most of them.
I transfered to Alvord in mid 10th grade in order to get out of school sooner. I actually graduated a year early in 1971 since Alvord allowed you to ...Expand for more
work at your on pace. I was bored and ready to move on so I applied myself to gain my freedom.
I've since wished I had paid more attention in school. Over the past many years, I have taken quite a few college classes to try to make up for what I didn't care to learn while I was in school.
I divorced in 1995 after 23 years of marriage and have one 33 year old son that works as an engineer for the California Forestry Department. I spent most of my life after high school racing cars both as a hobby and professionally.
I still enjoy my street rods and the car culture in general. I now own a couple of businesses in Colton.
