Laura's Story
Life
September 2008:
Jason and I were married on May 24, 2008. He is currently stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas. I moved to be with him once my work contract was complete--Moved July 5th. We honeymooned in Rome, Italy in August and are now counting down the months/weeks/days until he has to return to Iraq.
Currently, I am not working, but enjoy taking lunch to Jason and eating with him every day. I am looking for a School Psych position, but haven't found any open as of yet.

I graduated from Radford University this past May with my Master's of Science in Psychology and my Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology. I finished my internship with Spotsylvania County Schools in June and was hired by Henrico County Public Schools as a 12 month School Psychologist on August 1 and started the following Monday. I love my job so far and I love working with kids! But most of all, I love being home.
I am currently dating a wonderful Christian man who I have known since high school, and maybe longer, but we never dated. We both attended the same high school, and some of you may know him. He was two years ahead of me...Jason Taylor. He is currently a Captain for the Army as an MP. He is stationed in Missouri until the spring of 2008...

hen I switched to just majoring in Psychology. In September 2001, right after the terrist attacks, my father's mother passed away. She and I were extremely close and took her death very hard. I started re-evaluating my life and what I wanted to do for the rest of my life and decided that Marine Science was not in my best interest because I wanted to be close to my family and to have a family of my own. I prayed about it for a few months and then realized that I felt God calling me to Psychology. So, I changed my major and still graduated in May 2004 (I was lucky). I am currently in graduate school at Radford University getting my Education Specialist Degree in School Psychology. This is a 3 year program, 2 years of in class work (including summers) and 1 year of an internship. I have a Graduate Assistantship with the RU Alumni Association where I am the RU Ambassadors' Adviser. The Ambassadors are an elite undergraduate student group who help the Alumni Association with events. I have really enjoyed working with these kids. They are great!
This summer, after my summer classes are over, I will be heading to Europe for vacation with my roomie for 6 weeks. We will be backpacking through Italy for 16 days and then spending 2.5 weeks in Greece on an island where her father is from and where her family owns a house. Then we willl be heading to London for a week as well before returning to the states.
