Laura's Story
Life
I was born in Memphis, TN, on April 7, 1979, and raised in Marietta, GA. I went to Kincaid Elementary, Simpson Middle and Sprayberry High School. I was the graduating class of 1997. Since then I attended college at Lee University in the town of Cleveland, Tennessee, and spent a semester studying abroad, at Cambridge University in England. I graduated from Lee in 2001 with my degree in Education, certified to teach grades k-8. I married my husband, Matthew Odell, November 3, 2001, and we decided to try fostering children before having our own. We received our first foster child, a little five-year-old girl named Brittany, last June, 2003, and she is still with us nearly a year later....Expand for more
I have been teaching third grade at South Polk Elementary, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, in the tiny town of Old Fort, Tennessee. I love my job, and just recently received tenure, which is wonderful job security for a teacher. My husband and I bought our first house a year and a half ago, a precious little white house with blue shutters, on the edge of town, at the top of a hill, that happens to suit us perfectly. We have a ferret, a cat, a dog, and several puppies at the time. Our life is wonderful, simple and calm, filled with love and family, truly touched by God's grace and compassion. We plan to do many things with what we have been given, and have only just begun :)
