Laurel's Story
Well I never did become the actress I dreamed of being. After AADA I dipped my toe in art school (Parson's School of Design) and hated every minute of the 6 months. Then studied with Herbert at the HB Studio - and decided although I loved the theatre I wasn't cut out for the business of it all. I was too young - too green and life was too hard and painful. I finally found happiness at the School of Visual Arts and graduated from there in 1973. Had some good success as a fiber artist. Had my work shown on Madison Avenue, SOHO galleries and had a gallery i Northern CA that had my work. Was in a NYC co-op called 9 Artisans Gallery - those were happy days. Terribly difficult to make a living doing one of a kind pieces so got a job working for an illustrator's rep and had a good time doing that. I married...Expand for more
my husband Bob in 1983 and we have been very happy together. No children - just us and always 2 or 3 cats and assorted critters - he is also an artist but works as a packaging designer. We have a little old house on Long Island . I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease 8 years ago and it's been very rough going. Much pain and many surgeries that has turned my life upside down. I have been blessed to have a partner who has stood by be for all the hard times & believe me that's a hard thing to do. I'm thankful for every day - I love nature ,enjoy writing, photography and drawing when I can. Life flies by so quickly - don't waste time being sad - there's always something to be thankful for. That's what I've learned. Life is precious - enjoy it the best you can and be kind to others. Wishing you all well!
