Laurie's Story
12-08 Though I tried to leave the Canton area many times, I have always ended up back here or at least nearby. I have been an "at home" mom for 17 years, though I prefer to say that I am a "Life Teacher" to my children. :)
I was lucky enough to be able to volunteer my time in the school system and community over the years, the same as my mother did.
Over the last several years, I have been writing stories about motherhood that seem to have a universal appeal. I have been published and have read them in public, but I am now in the process of self-publishing them in hopes of making some money at it! I have various other themes as well, but all are centered around my life experiences, with the exception of one children's story (which was loosely based on my childhood).
I have two beautiful children a girl, 17 and boy 15. They are the light of my life. We have been through some very difficult times over the past several years...Expand for more
, as my husband was diagnosed with an agressive form of non-hodgkins lymphoma in early 2005. After nearly a year of fighting, we lost John on Christmas day of that year. Within less than a year after that, the day before Thanksgiving, we lost my dad. We have spent the last several years putting the pieces back together. My children are remarkable. As for me, life has begun to be an adventure and I appreciate the gift of living everyday.
I am lucky enough to live near my Mother and brother Doug. They have been a Godsend over the years. Unfortunately for me, Bryan and Clint live in CA, so I don't get to see much of them. Out of all of our 8 children, I am the only one to have a boy! Go figure. :)
11-23-09 I haven't been on here in awhile. I facebook more now, you can find me there. If you have any interest, I have a blog that I just started that holds short snipets of life. Google lcferguson's blog and it will come up.
