Laurie / Lauren's Story
Hi! I am Laurie Thomas from the class of '79, also known as Lauren, (nickname "Ren.") My parents are Ned and Kathy Thomas and they live in Hickory, North Carolina. My brother, Ned Jr. (Tom) is married to Debby and they have three boys. He is on the Border Patrol in Eagle Pass, Texas. My sister, Margaret Thorsen (Meg) lives in Hickory and is married to Rev. Phil Thorsen and she has a girl and a boy. My youngest brother, John Thomas, lives in the Twin Cities and he (and girlfriend, Allison), has a newborn girl, as well as a boy, and a girl who live with their mother, Mara, in North Dakota. I live and have a home in Los Lunas, New Mexico and work at a nearby elementary school, and do not have children but *love* children. divorce and so I moved from Grants and now live in LL which is close to Albuquerque. Love my job working with children and teachers, have degrees/licensure in Language Arts and reading/English as well as elementary education and am working on a second masters degree in Educational Leadership in order to have licensure for being an elementary school principal. I adopted a beautiful all-black cat from the pound and named her "Raven" and am a member of the nearby St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. I just turned 50, enjoy jogging/fast walking, working out at Curves, doing some reading and hiking, traveling, and keeping in touch with my friends and family. I love to kayak whenever I get the chance and I'm buying a motorcycle and getting my license after classes. Looking forward to getting back in touch with friends from Quito. What are *you* up to?
