More about Lawrence:"Born in Aurora, Illinois to Julia(Perez)Padilla and Salvador Padilla, Sr. Has eight siblings, 5 brothers (2 deceased) and 3 sisters. Middle child of 9. Educated by the School Sisters of St. Francis at St. Joseph's School grades 1 through 8, Christian Brothers at Roncalli High School grades 9 through 11, and graduated high school from Aurora Central Catholic High School. Participated in Boy Scouts ages 11 to 14, played football from the 5th grade throughout high school. Involved in student government in high school, studied college prep program. Began playing music at age 10, self taught on piano and guitar. Played in bands from age 12 until 39. First band with older brother Chuck, "The Three Diamonds", formed another band with younger brother Bob "The Jesters" Played in several other bands throughout high school. Soul Society with brother Chuck, Later in High Street with brother Chuck. A founding member of the band "August" in 1972. Attended St. Procopius College, Lisle, Illinois from 1969 through 1973, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in History with an Education minor. Taught and coached football and track at high school level at alma mater, Aurora Central HS from 1974 through 1978. Transfered to Schumacher Jr. High School/St. Nicholas, taught 7th and 8th grades from 1978 through 1981, coached track at Jr. High. Continued to play music through out teaching career. Married in 1976, to Karen Jensen. Had a son, Tony, in 1978 and a daughter Cara, in 1982. Left teaching field to take over father's tailoring business. Self-employed from 1981 through 1983. "August" band broke up in 1976.Formed "The Liberty Road Band" with former "Jesters" bassist Archie Vargas and drummer, brother Bob along with "August" horn player Rick Van Pelt. An auto accident sidelined Bob and drummer Gary Comer joined the band, along with former "August" saxman Jim Selig, trombonist Chuck Peterson to round out the band. Later another former "August" player, Dan Murray on lead guitar joined the band. Liberty Road played from 1976 through 1983, making several more personel changes. In 1980 Rick Van Pelt left and was replaced by another former "August" trumpet player, Jerry Thielman. Archie left and was replaced by Rich Race on bass. Rich was eventually replaced by Roy Thatcher, and when Gary Comer left, he was replaced by Henry Bahr. One of the high points of bands career was a professional recording in the studio at the Union Carbide building in July of 1978, four original songs, written by Larry Padilla were recorded. shall Fields at Fox Valley Mall to supplement income, continued to manage Sal's Tailor Shop and play music. Eventually decided to close tailor shop and took full time tailoring position with Marshall Fields working at the Oak Brook shopping center, from 1984 through 1987. Began working part-time for Mark Shale at Oak Brook, and was offered full tiime job with Mark Shale. Left Marshall Fields to work for Mark Shale, at their central tailor shop in the Louis Joliet Mall, in Plainfield. Divorced in 1986 and moved to Crest Hill, Illinois. Ex-wife and children moved to Sugar Grove, Illinois. Maintained visitation with children, having them in Crest Hill on weekends. Continued to play music with "oldies" bands from 1985 through 1989, playing last music engagement on New Year Eve, 1990. Met future wife, Nancy Bicknell, at an art show in Joliet in September 1988. Nancy traveled doing art shows throughout the Midwest, based in Watertown, Wisconsin. Maintained a long distance relationship for two years, seeing one another either when she traveled to the Chicagoland area, or on days off from work. Decided to move to Wisconsin in 1990, took part time job working in Mequon, Wisconsin in August of 1990 and was offered full time work at Mark Berman and Son's. Accepted tailoring postion in Mequon and moved to Watertown, Wisconsin in November of 1990. Became engaged to Nancy and began helping her in her art business. Learned frame making from Nancy's father and mat cutting from Nancy's son Scott. Laid off from tailor job in Mequon, and began to work full time in art business in 1991. Did some substitute teaching in the Watertown Area schools for a couple of years. Took a job at Fiberesin, a factory in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin in August of 1993 when art show income began to gradually decline. Applied for a job at a factory, Menasha and was hired in September of 1993. Worked for several years in the molding department and several more years as a painter. Began raising pure bred AKC Shih-Tzus in 2000 and continued until 2006. Returned to school in June of 2000 studying for a Masters Degree in School Counseling at UW Whitewater. Married Nancy in January of 2001. Plant closed in April of 2001. Began working as a drug and alcohol counselor in May of 2001, founding New Beginnings Counseling with wife Nancy, a 1997 graduate of the UW Whitewater counseling program, who had been working in the field since 1995. Became certified as a drug and alcohol counselor in 2003 and has maintained certification since that time. Continued working with art business and taking substitute teachiing assignments. No longer involved in music, last having performed on New Years Eve, 1990 in Grays Lake, Illinois. Seved one year internship at Watertown High School for the 2003-04 school year. Graduated with Masters Degree in Counseling in May of 2004. Contiinued to substitute teach for a year. Continued working as a drug and alcohol counselor, working towards Licensed Professional Counselor status. Worked in counseling field full time until July of 2007 when disabled. Has been disabled since 2007. Began rehearsing with a reunited "August" band for several months, playing one engagement with the band in August of 2007. Has not played in public since then. Presently assistinig wife in the counselling practice with light office duties, but not working with clients. Wife Nancy Bicknell in addition to being a professional artist as well as professional counselor is also author of several books, which she also illustrated. I assisted in the editing and production of handbound copies of each of her 6 books. We are presently engaged in seeking a publisher for her works. Has three biological grandchildren, Lily and Hunter Padilla [Tony & Timarie] Gavin Jensen [Cara Lynne] and three grandchildren through Nancy's sons, Ashley Bicknell [Doug] Kaitlyn and Kody Bicknell [Scott]. Living in Watertown with Nancy and 5 Shih-Tzus.".
