Lawrence Williams:  

It has been nearly 40 years since graduating from high school and I often wonder about some of my old pals and where they may be now. After graduation from high school I worked for the phone company for a few years and then I went into the Air Force and spent time in the Philippines. I went to college for a couple of years in Killeen, Texas and from there I began to travel and wound up living on the west coast. I married a wonderful woman in Sacramento, California and we have eight children between us and a daughter of our own. In 1985 I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I wasn't in any trouble per se, but I was successful and felt that I needed God. I'll be the first to admit that my motives were on the selfish side. Eventually I got involved in the ministry of the Navigators and began discipling others. I worked for three fortune 500 companies over a twenty year period and by the grace of God started my own supply company in 1999. I really enjoyed my work and my employees were very good. In 2003 the roof caved in on me. When I came to Christ in 1985 I had many childhood issue that I was dealing with. Among them was alcohol and God stopped me dead in my tracks and brought my alcoholism out into the open. I was ruining my family with it as well as my own life. I hid it quite well from members of my church and close friends. But my wife and children knew the monster that I had become. My behavior was a threat to their lives and to my freedom. God made someone aware of the problems in my home and when the police arrived at my door step ready to arrest me for assault I went upstairs to my room and cried out to God. I was desperate. Then I remembered King David and how God had shown him mercy (2 Samuel 12). I asked God to show me mercy as He did David and He did. ...Expand for more
