Lee's Story
Let's see...
Went to UGA as a bio major planning to go to med school, but changed mid-stream. I literally closed my eyes and stuck my finger in the course catalog and decided to check it out... 2 weeks later I was on my way to pharmacy school. I don't know that I ever intended to stay in the field, but I've had the degree for 15 years and still enjoying it.
My husband and I met in pharmacy school. He was my best friend... he listened for 3 years to all of my griping and complaining and was always supportive of everything. When we graduated, he simply said "you need to marry me" -- we never actually dated. I think it worked out better that way. None of that awkwardness.
I came to Augusta to go to grad school, but decided not to finish. In this field, it was just not...Expand for more
necessary at that time. I was once told that once you come to Augusta, you can never leave. I think it was true. We always intended to come back to Atlanta, but things always stopped us. Now we really like the area - it has grown so much in the last 15 years - so we will probably stay.
We have two beautiful children, both of whom are way too smart for their own good. Taylor is 12 (going on 32) and Matthew is 9. Taylor aspires to be a lawyer, so you can only imagine how careful I have to be with my words (she picks everything apart!) Matthew wants to play football for Mark Richt someday.
I currently work at an independent pharmacy -- what a different world from the chains. Chris and I are preparing to buy our own store (hopefully) in the next couple of years.
