Leigh's Story
Life
After GHS I was determined to be the next left wing on the US Olympic field hockey team and went to olympic development camp in the Poconos with Jen Bleakley. However, I soon discovered what it was like to play among the best and my enthusiasm waned as reality sunk in. I ended up playing JV hockey my freshman year at West Chester State College but abandoned it after that. My junior year in college I learned about the national student exchange program, spent a year at the University of New Mexico and knew I never wanted to leave. I met my husband in Albuquerque, lived in the Mojave Desert (CA)for six years, then Anchorage for three. The USAF graciously moved us to San Angelo, TX, where I ended up getting divorced after eleven years. I tried to find my "place" for awhile and ended up in Arlington, TX, pursuing my Master's degree and playing co-ed soccer. I have a son who was born in 1990 and a daughter in 1994, and they currently live with me in New Mexico, where we enjoy our pet ch...Expand for more

Workplace
I am currently a corporate librarian for one of the "Big Four" accounting firms. I got into library work in 1993 and loved it so much I pursued my Master's in Library Science which I completed in 2003. Some who knew me at Groveton probably wonder how I could possibly end up in this field, but you must understand...there is no librarian "uniform" of bun, glasses and long tweed skirts. I manage all publication acquisitions for fourteen KPMG offices in the Southwest, travel at least six times a year to places like Boston, Chicago and San Juan (PR)...librarianship isn't sitting behind a reference desk anymore! Through the years I have worked in other libraries, such as a West Texas elementary school, the municipal system of Anchorage, AK, and even at Fort Belvoir for awhile. I enjoy helping people and really dig the organization and possibilities for increasing knowledge libraries offer.
