Phil's Story
Life
Joined the Navy in 1965. Served 27 mos. in Viet Nam, 6 mos. in Beirut, Lebanon, with the Multi-national Force. I was stationed in California, Rhode Island, Jacksonville, Norfolk Va., Spain, Iceland, Alaska and Ethiopia. Initially assigned as an Aviation Metalsmith working on hydraulic systems on aircraft, I also served as an Aircrewman, operating radar and electronic countermeasures equipment on anti-submarine aircraft. While assigned to Helicopter Light Attack Squadron Three in Viet Nam, I was assigned to duties as a door gunner on the UH1 "Huey" helicopter. Our mission was to provide air support to the gunboats patrolling the Mekong River and its tributaries. In 1974 I changed my career field to journalism (electronic media specialist) and served the remaining 17 years working in public affairs offices and, overseas, in the American Forces Radio and Television Service. I earned an AS in Criminal Justice from the City College of Chicago, a BA in History...Expand for more

The minister was a protestant missionary from England. We have two children, Leslie Kim, 28 and Kristine Michelle, 25, two granddaughters, Kira Nichole, 8, and Leah Deborah, 4, two grandsons, Kenneth Randall, 3, and Logan David, 2. We reside in Cheyenne, WY. Drove long haul trucks for 10 years, then spent 6 months as a safety manager for CR England truck lines before returnijg to driving. I do enjoy the open road and traveling around the U.S. and the interesting people I meet. Moved into our new house in july 2008. The last one. Told our daughters that when I leave here they will push me down the driveway in a wheelchair! Catch up with me on Facebook.
