Linda's Story
I married Bobby in 1972. We graduated from TAMU in 1973. We moved to Dumas, TX in 1974 and our daughter, Emily, was born there. We moved back to College Station in 1975. Bobby took a job at the post office. I sold Tupperware. I lost my mother in 1976. Our son, Terry, was born in 1978. We moved to Taylor, TX in 1980. Bobby worked as a manager at Taylor Bedding. I taught a year in St. Mary's School. Then, I subbed for a couple of years. Finally, I started a babysitting business until we were ready to move again. This time Bobby went back to the post office in Temple in 1985. I went back to school and got a teacher's certificate. I subbed in 1985. Then, I taught 2nd grade for 6 years and then 3rd grade for 14 years. I retired early. My daughter married after graduating from Texas A&M '96, a third generation Aggie...Expand for more
! My son, Terry, graduated from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas and was a band director for 5 years, then changed to a sales job. Since then I've taken care of my dad and buried him in 2009. I've volunteered at a local food bank and am in charge of a lot of the computer records and management of personnel in the area that serves clients directly. I also am very active in the Western Hills Church of Christ. My son is marrying a sweet first grade teacher this June, that is shy and nice just like he is. I am lucky to have both children living in Temple. I have 2 stepgrandchildren, Alexandria and Zane, who are 17 and 13, through my daughter, Emily. I also have 3 granddogs, Macy, Chloe, and Sophia, all Jack Russell terriers who live in the same household. I get to babysit the granddogs when the family goes out of town!
