Linda's Story
Life continues
Wow, guess I have not been on this site in awhile. Here it is 2010 and just got back from Moscow visiting my son and daughter in law and NEW grandson, now 5 months old. Had a great Xmas visit with them. Have been on a few cruises in the last two years, including Alaska. But right now, I am staying home (OMG...3 months and no traveling will be a first for me, since retiring) as I am taking a Master Gardener class. I redid my shed, so will be using it to start seeds and grow some plants. The class should be quite informative in helping me be more productive with my efforts in my shed and in my rather large vegetable garden. I am also redesigning my back yard to be more water conscious. Will be planting miniature fruit trees in one bed next month. Hoping to get an arbor up on one corner of the yard, with room for a hammock. Now I just have to stop long enough to use it..lol.
To all of you reading this...in 2010, May you always have Love to Share, Health to Spare and Friends that Care
Life
Nov 2007. Well, I am back in Hurst, TX, renovating my house, now that I retired. I loved my experiences in South America, but enjoying the next phase of my life. About to head to India for a couple of weeks to visit my son and daughter in law. Then a cruise come March and perhaps a few other trips in between.
January, 2005. Life is constantly taking a turn and the latest one finds me living and working in Montevideo, Uruguay. My company, like so many now, has decided to move its callcenters offshore. Having spent most of my working career in this callcenter, I decided it would be a good way to end my career (as my job is eliminated also), and help get this one up and running. A what a great life experience!!
Having lived here for almost 8 months now, I am adjusting. I really need to spend more time studyin...Expand for more
g my Spanish, but that will come with time. I will be here at least another 18 months, so should be able to get around fairly well by the time I have to leave:).
Holidays (Xmas and New Year's)here are quite different than in the States, but love their traditions. Fireworks are a big part of that and you can buy them on almost every street corner.
Hoping to take up golf again, and get a membership to the golf course across the street. Like so many things here (a very close knit community), everything, price included, is based on who you know. And everything is at a much slower pace.
Wishing all of you reading this a Wondrous 2005.
Update...here I am still in Montevideo and it is Dec 30, 2006...almost 2007. Two years have gone by very fast and have about 6 months or less of my extended assignment here. I did not take up golf, but did get a puppy...now 7 months old and as cute as she can be..a Beagle. My Spanish also did not improve alot as my employees speak English all day long, so never really need to speak Spanish..however, can read a menu with the best of them!!!
Looking forward to moving back to the States to be closer to friends and family. It took me 36 hrs of traveling to get back from NYC the other day.
So Wishing all of you a Wondrous 2007!!!
College
Having gone to a Jr. College for Women in Vermont, I fondly remember I "majored" in bridge and boys. I even met my former husband while attending college, so got married after getting my Associate Degree instead of going on to a four year school. Luckily, I still play bridge to this day.
While in college, I eventually learned to "study", but was on and off academic probation every other semester that first year. That was probably due to majoring in boys.
I have fond memories of my college days and still am very good friends with a couple of my dorm-mates.
