linda's Story
After I graduated from Cubberley I went to the University of Washington where I received my teaching degree and returned to teach in Palo Alto. I loved it and couldn't believe they paid me for something so much fun. I then spent 2 years in Germany teaching at Ramstein, AF base. I was able to take every tour available at the time. I then returned stateside, spent a year back in Palo Alto teaching and then Sunnyvale. I married, had a son and a daughter and after 15 years of marriage a divorce. I spent 10 years teaching elementary art in the best school in Las Vegas. The art I had learned at Cubberley and my major at the UW plus what I had seen in my overseas travels I could bring into the classroom. I remarried and we moved to Colorado where I tried to become self sufficient on a 5 Ac, farm. I loved the pigs, goose we called Gimpers, Mama cow, plus the assorted chickens, goats, and a frisky horse. Unfortuantely farming is a lot of wor...Expand for more
k and I envisioned my friends sitting in the house eating bon bons while I was towing a sheet filled with weeds that I was plucking from my fiields, covered in dirt and said, "I am done." I truly missed Gimpers who would fly down the road at the sound of my voice and proceed to give me the eye while honking away. We then moved to Coeur d" Alene which we think is perfect. Gardening, watercolor painting, quilting, reading, researching genealogy, boating, biking, traveling are all things I love to do. I have often wondered what has happened to all you in the class, where you went and what your lives were like. I am glad to have gone thru school in the 50's and am grateful for the teachers and classes that affected all my life. In 1972 I felt there was something missing in my life and I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the Mormons) and felt like I had come home. I am busy in my church and have many wonderful friends.
