Linda's Story

Linda was elected in 2008 to the Board of Directors for National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest non profit serving over 4 million latinos across the United States and serves as national chair of the Affiliate Council representing 300 organizations providing education, housing and financial services to the latino population across the United States. In 2004 Linda Mazon Gutierrez received the National Foundation of Women Legislators’ Latina Leadership Award and was named Woman of the Year by Soroptomists International Arizona and its U.S. Western Region. In 2000, she was selected for the Outstanding Alumnae for St.Mary's High School together with Tim Smith and Pat Cantelme. Currently she is the President and CEO of the Hispanic Women’s Corporation bringing together over 3,000 latinas nationally;Linda has also been a mainstay of the National Hispana Leadership Institute, serving as Past National Chair, Vice-Chair and Alumnae Chair. Linda serves on the National Latino Council for HILLARY CLINTON FOR PRESIDENT. Linda also served as Arizona Women for Kerry Chair in the last presidential campaign. Before establishing Linda Mazon Gutierrez LLC for motivational empowerment seminars, Linda also serves as Congressional Liaison for the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System. Linda received her Bachelor of Arts and Masters Degree from Arizona State University in 1972 and 1973 respectively. In 1992 she received a fellowship to Harvard University at the JFK School of Government . She serves as an editorial writer and blogger for the Arizona Republic whose columns appear regularly and a guest editorial writer for USATODAY. She was one of eight persons chosen nationally to contribute a response to the President's State of the Union message. Linda lives in Tucson and is married to former state Senator Jaime Gutierrez, Vice-President at the University of Arizona and has four children, Frankie, Alexis, Jaime and Christopher , ages 19-33.
