Linda's Story
Life
The major headlines read: Josh, my only child, graduated from Auburn. I have lived in Atlanta for 14 years after having lived in Tampa for 18 years.
Six (6) days prior to JoshÂs graduation, I retired from Verizon Wireless/GTE after a career with the company that spanned more than half of my life. Retirement is good!! Earlier in the year, I had a health setback with several surgeries. After an emergency surgery and my weight dropping to ninety pounds, I decided that I had better things to do than work for Verizon Wireless so I retired. This has proven to be an outstanding decision.
I have been able to remain active for the past 9 years with my volunteer activities for Canine Assistants and Shepherd Center. Canine Assistants provides service dogs for the physically disabled. is allowed anywhere except for operating rooms. At Shepherd Center, he provides animal-assisted therapy, demonstrates how a service dog can help, and is loved by all.
I am still a gardener. I designed and managed the installation of a waterfall, koi pond, bridges, creek beds, lots of landscaping, at least 7 Japanese maples, boulders, wrought iron fencing, an outdoor stone and flagstone fireplace, outdoor heaters, a grill, frig and bar area, hammock, double chaise, and brick cobblestone driveway, sidewalks and patios. The yard is definitely a heavenly retreat.
We celebrated our 13th Thanksgiving since moving to Atlanta. This year we traveled to Raleigh for TÂDay since my nieceÂs family was flying to the States from their residence in London. My mother, who celebrated her 86th birthday in 2006, is still healthy and wise.
