Linda's Story
Life
After high school I went to the University of Miami and got a Bachelor of Science in Communications in Broadcasting and a double major in Criminology with a minor in Religious Studies. I graduated from there in August of 1996. I started a Masters in business at UM also, but after a year and a half dropped, it just wasn't for me.
In August of 1997 I got married to Carlos Rozo. We worked together at an office in UM. Carlos got his Bachelors at UM and Masters at FIU. He has held several positions in major companies including his last as Director of Business Development. He realized he was missing out on a lot with his children because of his traveling schedule, so he recently decided to start a consulting business so he could set his own hours. We have three children and are still happily married.
I interned at Univision while at college, I returned to Univision again and worked as an Associate Producer on a show called "Aqui y Ahora". It's a primetime news magazine similar to Dateline.
Before Univision I was working at a company called Sky Latin America doing encryption of satellite services to Latin America. Hey, it paid the bills and was actually really interesting becuase it was the latest in technology. After I left Univision I did freelance work in a number of areas a different television networks around Miami including Telemundo, PBS, and TV commercials. After my second child I left freelance work for a steady paycheck and took a job as assistant director with Huntington Learning Centers. I left there for a steady job with Telemundo, but things did not work out with the show I was hired for (it was cancelled shortly afterwards) and just in time to find out that I was expecting my third child. started my own business selling items online and as a buyer for several companies. I work from home and am actually doing quite well. I make a nice income, set my own hours, and get to participate in my children's schools.
In January 2001, I gave birth to my 1st child, Gabriela Isabel. She is now attending elementary school and is very bright and athletic. She has great hand eye coordination which she must have gotten from her father. She also loves learning about fashion and we are still trying to figure out where that came from because I could care less about my day to day appearance.
In August 2003, we welcomed Diego Andres to our family. Diego was born with a few disorders, but it's nothing that we can't deal with. He loves his bike, balls, girls and cars. Just like his dad . . . sports, pretty girls and fast cars.
In October 2005, we had a little surprise named Sofia Cristina. She is a fighter . . . literally. She is very independant and can defend herself well among other children. Then again, in a household of three children she has to be able to do both in order to survive.
Since I make-up my own schedule I have taken to traveling. My latest favorite spot has become the Grand Caymans. Definitely a place to go visit for a week and just escape from reality (and my husband). My runner up would be Vegas. We visit several times through out the year and I just love watching the shows and playing blackjack or craps. Finally, who can forget NY. Both my sister and brother live there now so again I have an excuse to fly up several times a year with my brother having his first child and my sister about to get married. I am also planning a two week trip to France in Oct. 2008 and my second trip to Maui in 2009.
