Linda's Story
Life
Born in Montreal but raised in Vancouver. Elementary school at Cecil Rhodes & Emily Carr. Grad from EHSS in '72. VCC Nursing School Grad in '77. Moved East in '81. Married my hubby - Ed Saxe in '86. He is a Real Estate Appraiser, self-employed. I have been a Registered Nurse since '77 & last worked at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto - R.N. in Gen. Surg./GI unit. I was "forced" to retire in 2014 due to bilateral "tennis elbow" which restricted my ability to do most nursing tasks. I truly miss the patient care! So... early retirement was a thing, & maybe opening a bakery (my REAL passion!) wasn't in the stars due to physical restrictions. My son (a chef & C.A.) has been working for Deloitte for a few years now, & seems to love his job. moving out some time in early 2020. We are now down to a single dog (another "rescue"). Penny is a yellow lab/Golden cross, but is mostly lab. We have loved & lost 4 other dogs since 1988 - 3 of them were rescues. If you want to know more - my mom & dad were Anita & Bill Ornstein & we lived on Connaught Drive (31st & Oak). We belonged to Schara Tzedeck synagogue. Mom passed away on Sept. 4, 2010, & dad resided at Louis Brier Home since not long after her passing. He passed away on Sept. 14, 2019 at the ripe old age of 96. I have 3 sisters - Lois, Lianne & Paula. Lois lives in Israel, Lianne is in Vancouver, & Paula lives in Kelowna. I try to come out to Vancouver at least once a year to get some sea air & "family time". Hoping for a mini-reunion with some Hamber alumni next visit - I always need a Triple-O fix when I'm there!
