Lisa's Story
The 20 year update in 500 words or less.
Well, let's see....I graduated from High School in '89 and went right to junior college. At some point I decided to be an education major, specifically in special ed., hearing impaired. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I got my associates degree in December of '91 and decided to take a few months off before starting at Eastern. I worked in a day care during that time. Concerts were attended, fun was had.
Looking back, Eastern was a bit of a blur. Not because I spent my time in a beer inspired fog, but because I was dedicated to my work. I remember a lot of class time and writing papers. Finally, in April of '97, I graduated with a major in Hearing Impaired Special Education with a double minor: Spanish Language and Planned Program (now extinct, this minor was just methods courses in various subjects). he school year, I decided teaching wasn't for me. Concerts were attended, fun was had.
Thus disoriented, I ran into a friend of mine who was an office manager at the local cable company in Monroe. He needed a CSR and I needed a job--go fig. I managed to work my way through the ranks (ok, one step up) to Marketing Coordinator until my position was downsized in a corporate take over in 2002. A concert or two might have been attended, fun was probably had at some point.
Oddly enough I've almost gone full circle from high school. I'm currently working as a legal assistant at a national law firm--something I considered in my junior year of high school. I've managed to buy my own house (and all the mushroom cloud fixit jobs that go with it) and still have a little cash left over to hang out with friends now and then. No more concerts, but fun still to be had.
So maybe perhaps not 500 words but it's not like I'm getting GRADED, right?
