Lisa's Story
My life, condensed....After graduating from VCU in the Spring of 1985 (BFA in Design-Technical Theatre), I worked for a local TV station in Richmond, then took a seasonal job with the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC, before landing a position on staff as the Master Electrician with the University of Tennessee Theatres.
Got married in 1988. Worked as a designer/purchaser/sales for a stained glass studio for about 8 years.
Had a son Connor, in 1994, and a daughter, Zoe in 1995. Was a stay at home mom for 8.5 years, during which time I did a lot of volunteer and civic work in the tiny town where I live (Norris, TN -- birthplace of the Tennessee Valley Authority). Served on the ...Expand for more
Communtiy Development Board, Economic Development Commission, and chaired the first public art project for our city. Was also elected to Norris City Council, and volunteered about 4 days a week at my children's school.
Got divorced in 2003. Went back to work with UT Theatres, and was the second women voted into the local stagehands union (IATSE Local #197)--the definition of a good 'ol boy group. I also work for Mobley Engineering welding HDPE pipes for oxygen systems that we design, build and install in rivers and reservoirs. Life is interesting!
Life is challenging juggling work, house, yard, and two great teenagers (with all of their activities), but I couldn't be happier!
