Lisa's Story

Life Let's see...graduated high school, got married, had a child, got divorced. Nine years later - got married, had a child (got the tubes tied..lol), married for a few years, then divorced again. Not something I'm not proud of (the divorces...not the kids...I'm ABUNDANTLY proud of my kids), but it's a fact. I moved from Arizona to Seattle back in March '07. I spent a few years managing and promoting bands, while also working as a legal assistant. I finally decided that the band thing was costing me way too much in the financial and health department, so I resigned from the company and focused on my legal work instead. I've got a 19 year old daughter who is a college sophomore (GO GATORS!) and an 110 year old son who just plain rocks. He keeps us all on our toes, and I wouldn't trade him for the world. :) School Oh boy! High school crush? A guy named Brad (damned if I can remember his last name though). He graduated in '86, a year before me. He was tall, blonde and always wore a white puka shell necklace. He was always really nice to me, we got along great, but we had the worst timing - if I was single, he wasn't, and vice-versa. Ah well! That's high school, right? My best friend was probably Vicky Williams. She was a great friend, but we lost touch over the years. She also graduated a year ahead of me. I guess I was always what could best be described as a floater. I had friends in all of the different "categories" of kids...jocks, stoners, surfers, rednecks, nerds, black, white, red, yellow, brown...you name it, I probably had a friend or two who hung in that group. Junior high was an interesting time for me. Probably an interesting time for everyone...you're caught between that little kid school and the big kid school, so you usually do...Expand for more
some real rebelling at that time. And I did! I had an attraction to and dated the bad boys. You know those guys...they were a little older, had a car, smoked, drank, cussed, and just generally had fun. My closest friends during that time was a girl named Tracie Berg and a guy named Mike Arose (he was also my boyfriend's best friend). I also had some other good friends named Lucretia and Sharon. :) That time of my life wasn't always great. One of those bad boy friends of mine tried to take advantage of a situation one day while my man wasn't around. Fortunately for me, our friend Mike WAS around. He got me out of that situation and made sure I was safe. I owe him big for his intervention that particular day those many years ago. So, if you're reading this - thanks, Mike - big time. :) The earlier years of junior high were spent with my friends Kate, Randy, Sandy, Maria and Jeff. I loved those guys! :) Grade school? I can barely remember that far back, but it was relatively average. I had a best friend named Tiffany Hall. I had a couple of crushes back then - Scott Healy (I think that was the last name), Joey Taylor. I think my very first boyfriend was a boy named Dusty. For some reason, I remember really not liking 2nd grade very much at all. Maybe it was the teacher...maybe that was just one of my "blue periods." I spent a lot of those years at the skating rink and dancing to the Grease soundtrack with Tiffany (oh, she's gonna love me writing that!) Overall, school was a pretty positive experience for me, despite the fact that I had the same ugly duckling syndrome that kids do. I was teased and tormented by some kids, but for the most part, I had more friends than enemies, and they always got me through. That's what friends are for, right? :)
