Lisa's Story

I moved to Overland Park Kansas from St. Louis in 1965-66. I attended Cure of Ars Catholic Grade School for the 6th, 7th & part of the 8th grade. We had recess on the school parking lot. Every morning we had to go to Mass before class. We would try to make the alter boys laugh and would not sing the hymns to mess with the nuns, because in music we always sang them. We were often acting up and getting demerits. I was in the same classes as Joann Hoskins, (twins) Susan and Sandra Edwards, and Jackie Boring among others. We also went to school with a boy named George Bogie(sp?) who had a little sister with bran damage...Expand for more
and we all volunteered to help the family with her exercises to help her regain her mobility. Our class and many members of our church would go there every day to work with her in teams of 5-6 several times a day. I transferred to Nalllwood Jr. High in the 8th grade and then moved to Houston in 1968. I had friends who went to Shawnee Mission South High School as well. I was over weight in 6th grade but came back in 7th having lost a lot of weight and at 1st no one recognized me. I had shoulder length blonde hair and was often the "go between" in the budding romance area since I was friends with the boys and girls.
