Lisa's Story
Life
I was born in Mt. Holly, NJ in March 1967. After the birth of my sisters, Sharon and Eileen, in 1969 and 1970, our family moved to Pennsauken, NJ. I attended George B. Fine Elementary School then Pennsauken Junior High. After 7th grade, my family moved to Mt. Laurel, NJ and I attended Mt. Laurel Middle School and Lenape High School. After moving to Mt. Laurel, I unfortunately lost touch with my Pennsauken friends.
After high school, I attended Cornell University. I received a Bachelor's degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering in 1989. I spent an extra year and earned a Masters in Civil Engineering. Since I attended Cornell on an NROTC scholarship, upon graduation in 1990 I entered the Navy on active duty. I took a job with the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program in Washington, DC, where I worked on environmental and other policy issues. h to Cambridge, MA for three years while Glenn completed a PhD at Harvard.
I left the Navy in 1995 to start a PhD program at Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania. Glenn and I bought a beautiful historic house in Haddonfield, NJ and were married in December 1995.
Upon completing my PhD in 2001, I took a job as an assistant professor in the economics department at Michigan State University. Although this was an excellent job, Glenn and I missed city life. In early 2003 I accepted a job in the economics department at Hunter College and we moved back to Haddonfield. I started teaching at Hunter in September 2003. We moved to Manhattan in September 2005 while our house was undergoing renovation. We love New York, but expect to return to Haddonfield in fall 2006.
In August 2002 our son Teddy was born. Our second son Harry was born in November 2004. Both boys are smart, playful and laugh all day long.
