Lisa's Story

Life Hey, y'all, Just a quickie with what's going on in my life. As some of you know, I was diagnosed with acute leukemia (both kinds) in May/2003 and had a bone marrow transplant in September of the same year. Recovery has been slow, but steady - still dealing with graft vs. host disease (GVHD), which is typical of transplant situations where the doner is an outside source. Thankful, though, for my sister, Nora, for donating her T-cells so that I might live. My oldest son and daughter are in college. l being home-schooled. I am currently taking an at-home course, studying to become a medical transcriptionist. Other responsibilities include handling the care of my father (who is in a nursing home), in addition to managing his financial affairs. In my spare time, I'm active with my church, and needle tat, making gifts for friends and family. I have a part-time (hit or miss) job transcribing messages for a minister from Florida. My husband and I have been married over 20 yrs. now - looks like we'll be together for the long haul. That's it in a nutshell! Hugs!
