Lisa's Story

Life I have a full-time job as a supervisor of over 27 employees within three separate departments of a postal facility. I bought my first home when I was 29, and my second home when I was 41. We outgrew the first home and needed more space. My oldest son was having to duck his head when he came through the front door. Our newest home is much more spacious and suited to our needs. I'm raising three sons -well, two are pretty much raised (a high school graduate and a senior in high school) and the youngest is in elementary school. I'm at my best when I'm single and making all the decisions myself, although it can be a bit lonely. My boys are my top priority. Once they are ready to venture out on their own, I will feel a sense of accomplishment and relief. Raising three children on the autism spectrum can be challenging and has been and continues to be extremely rewarding. Although it may take them longer than the average person to be ready to venture out as self-sufficient individuals, they are each unique in their own way and have given me great joy. They have taught me a lot about life itself, fear, amusement, overcoming obstacles, and a sense of worth. I enjoy gardening (mostly flowers - annuals, bulbs, and perennials) and love to spruce up the front yard with a large variety of colors and textures. I'm looking...Expand for more
forward to spring when I can once again maintain and add to my flower gardens. I will probably spend a lot of time working in the garden when I retire. Right now I just don't have as much time as I would like to dedicate to this hobby. I am somewhat content with where I'm at right now. I'm trying to reduce my hours at work to a normal "40 hours per week". I'm much more relaxed than when I've worked 55 to 60 hours per week on a regular basis. I've traveled some as part of my job. I've been to Washington DC, Los Angeles, and Seattle for training. I prefer to stay close to home since I still have a young child and he's too young to take along and too young to leave behind. I hope to travel more for work when my children have grown and gone. The opportunity is there and I plan to take advantage of it. I have no grandchildren yet, but I believe that will change within the next five years. Time will tell. A lot has happened over the last 26+ years since high school graduation. I'm sure there is much more to experience as the years go by. I was very quiet in high school and I still tend to be on the quiet side, but I'm interested in how you (my classmates) are doing and wish you well in your life pursuits. Hopefully we will cross paths again, recognize each other, and spend a few moments catching up.
