Lois's Story

After being forced to leave my school to spend my last year at Davis (Boo) due to the mandatory segregation rules that went into effect that year I joined the circus. ( Yep, singing, performing acrobatic acts, traveling, getting married to another circus performer from Germany, traveling and performing in the US, Canada and Mexico, having a son). Then I got divorced. Stayed in Houston a few years, hob nobbed with the well knowns like Marvin Zindler and other personalities, record producers, and after turning down a recording contract because I wanted my son to have a stable life I settled down to a quiet life of working at Lomas and Nettleton Mortgage Co. Where I met my second husband. After having my house broken into 3 times and having my daughter with twins on the way I decided it was time to go to the country. And I mean to the country. Where slang is slang and twang is twang. Where I lost my cosmopoitan (is that spelled right?) accent and found a true east texas accent ya. Was quiet successful in the oil industry working my way up to management. After divorcing my second husband (best thing I ever did) I began raising my four children working two jobs of which one was bartending (loved it) and singing in a local club. Ran into a guy I knew from Houston who was in one of the top ...Expand for more
local bands there when I was 16 (appeared on Larry Kane show). He recognized me (at 33 yrs old from when I was 16). We were going to start a band but again I decided as much as I wanted to that my kids needed me more. While bartending I met my third husband who I am with today. I then went into nursing to try and help people find good out of bad circumstances that they might be in and help care for them the way they should be cared for. I love what I do. I now have 7 grandchildren (6 boys and one girl). All my children are spread throughout other cities. I love to go fishing now, I still love the water and always will. I miss greatly all my old friends from Houston. I guess as you get a little older you think back a little further and wonder. So to all my friends - I may have been wild and crazy and really good at taking risks - like surfing in the winter without a wet suit on but I loved it and I love all of you. I always tried to find good in everyone and hoped that along the way that they would have found something memorable in knowing me that was good. Had some heavy crushes on some but I was just always to dam independent to get pinned down but I had fun. And I hope that someday before I hop into a wheelchair that I can see all or some of you again. Love to all and Peace.
