Lolita's Story

Life Hey all! Life is fantastic and very full since FHS. I went to the University of Pennsylvania in Philly and studied Chemical Engineering and Marketing in the Wharton School. Very difficult but I learned a lot. I also had A LOT of fun in college and was involved in all sorts of extracurriculars. I was even on the Wheel of Fortune for College Week in 1988. After college I moved to NY and have been here on the Upper East Side ever since. Never married and no kids - now enjoying life to its fullest. I'm involved in a lot: * Until December 2003 was a Vice President at Morgan Stanley - I worked there twelve years, and I managed and marketed a $10 billion mutual fund product. * I am a survivor of 9/11 - I was on the 70th floor of the South Tower, and was also there in '93. Because I was a double survivor I ended up on a lot of news programs and newspaper articles, so some of you may have seen some of that. My best friend at work didn't make it out, and we were going down the stairs together. Luck of the draw that I'm still here. * President of the Metropolitan Republican Club, which is the oldest and largest club in NYC with 500 members. It was founded by Teddy Roosevelt supporters in 1902 and present and past members include Nelson Rockefeller, John Lindsay, Rudy Giuliani and Mayor Bloomberg. I am very involved in NY city politics and was a delegate to the Republican National Convention, 60 blocks from my house. The reason I left finance [see above] was to do politics full time for a year [do a Google and you will see all the media stuff I was in], and I am currently the Manhattan Coordinator of the Bloomberg campaign. I was a delegate media rep [I am the only RNC delegate who was in 9/11] and was also in ch...Expand for more
arge of the service project for the NY delegation. I was followed around by Fox for a day, and was also on some other local channels. It was a whirlwind, to say the least. * Charity activities - I have been a mentor in Harlem to kids for about twelve years, and I am currently on the Board of Trustees of the Children's Aid Society. For those of you who remember me being in the band all those years, I am spearheading an instrumental jazz program for poor kids in Harlem this fall. I have been to South Africa and Cuba with the agency on fact finding trips. I'm on a number of other boards here in the city as well. * Penn alumni activities - I chaired my 15th reunion from Penn last year, founded a scholarship for minority students that raised $1 million in four years, and am currently the Vice President of Leadership Development for Penn Alumni. * Lead singer of two bands. Yes I sing - I began singing at Penn. I am in a jazz quintet that performed at Carnegie Hall in 2000, and that group is called The Rummies. The other group is a jazzfunk outfit called LOLITA, and we are eight people [two backup singers] - old Chaka Khan, Incognito, Jill Scott, etc. We have played B.B. Kings and other NYC venues. Bruce McCracken checked us out! I also perform spoken word poetry and have done so at Nuyorican Poets Cafe. Outside of that, I travel a lot and basically take in all the city has to offer. I've been to London many times, Australia multiple times, New Zealand, Tahiti, Cuba, South Africa and most of the countries of Western Europe. As I said, life is great. I would love to hear from some of you out there, especially those of you who didn't make the 10 year, and it was great to see those of you who came out for the 20th...
