Lori's Story
Life
I am married to a wonderful man named Paul, whom I met on an internet matchmaking service in 2000. (Yes, internet dating works!) We built a home and moved into it in January 2007. We were married on April 21, 2007.
I moved to Austin right out of high school. Got a job and had a lot of fun. When my mother had her cancer relapse in 1995, I moved back to Victoria to care for her while Dad was away working. While in Victoria, I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. In 1998, I moved to Houston to teach 5th grade.
My mom passed away in 2000 after 19 years of battling cancer. She will always be my hero...Expand for more
! I know she is also the angel who sent me Paul.
After my mom died, I left teaching and began working for an offshore oil company. My job gives me the opportunity to travel all over the world. (London and Scotland are my favorites!)
My nephew is now an Attorney and also a college professor. My niece has a business degree.
I've met up with a few people from school who never gave me the time of day back then. Now they think I'm pretty wonderful. Don't know who changed more, them or me, but I have to wonder if it's worth all the trouble being friends with people who didn't deem me worthy 20 years ago.
