Laurie's Story
Life
My life has taken me half way across the globe. I remember being afraid to cross the street on Delroy Dr. Funny how life changes you. Wasn't life so different back then. We roamed those streets and never thought a thing of it.
After high school I got married and we were married for 15 years before he died in 1996. Life took yet another drastic turn and I met and fell in love with someone I met on the internet and I moved to Houston Texas. We were married in 1998 and I have never been happier.
Yes, still fat. I have come to embrace that over the years and no longer feel bad about it. It's just who I am *S* I'm ok with it so you should be too.
College
Seneca College 1978-1979 for the RN program. Oh ya, way too immature for that. First time away from home, too much...Expand for more
partying. Didn't work out too well. Flunked out big time
Didn't get enough of that, had to try one more time.
Seneca College 1979-1980 ya well, decided to get married instead. Wow, I was full of insight.
Humber College 1988-1991 Part-time. Finally got my RPN
San Jacinto College 1999-2000 to get my LVN here in Houston.
Workplace
I have been working in nursing since 1981. I started at York Central in Richmond Hill as a nurses aid and then went back to school through Humber College part-time (took me 3 years but I did it) and got my RPN. I worked at York Central for 17 years until I moved to Texas. Currently I am the Clinical Coordinator at a Residential AIDS Hospice in Houston. I love my job. I work with the BEST people and we work with clients that are so deserving.
