Lynda's Story

Life I now get to travel to all the wonderful places I only dreamed about in high school! I've been so blessed to have trekked into rain forests, experienced the Mediterranean, dove in Hawaii, Cozemul, Mexico, and the Carribean, along with other wonderful local dive spots, swam with sea turtles off Barbados, interacted with wild dolpins through the courtesy of the Dolphin Academy on Curacao, met my daughter, Bethe, in London then traveled to southern Ireland for a couple of weeks where we visited Maloney's Pub in Union Hall on her birthday and then on my first official day of retirement, my son dared me to climb the face of Weeping Wall in Idyllwild, and I did...80 feet up AND down! These are experiences that will be cherished for the rest of my life! I love to travel and especially enjoy the ocean, but since I live in the desert, it's not as easy to just "zip" down to the beach anymore! And I do miss that! After working in local high schools for too many years, knew it was time to retire a few years ago and promptly spent two marvelous months in Sardegna and Milano, Italy with friends and family. It was wonderful! Planning a month long trip to South America in December 2006 including a cruise around the Southern tip. My children are my best friends. My son, Chip earned his degree in Physics and teaches high school science/math in California. He was a single father to Casey, my handsome grandson, and now has my lovely grandaughter, Layla. ethe, graduated with degrees in Linguistics and French, lives outside Boulder, Colorado and is persuing her Master's degree in Education. My Italian daughter, Elena is a translator and lives five blocks away with her husband, Paul. My other Italian daughter, Monica lives in Milano, Italy, has a degree in Economics, works and travels Western Europe. That is what is going on in my life right now, how about you? What's new? Old news? Anything? Email me! Added Note: South America was absolutely exhilarating! Christmas Eve 2006 I was hangliding over Ipanema Beach in Rio! Life is exciting.... 2008 Note: June 1, 2008 my beautiful grandaughter was born! 2009 Note: Ziplined under the canopy in the mountains of Puerta Vallarta, rode in a zodiac out among the humpback whales in the Sea of Cortez, dove off Cozumel again, rode an airboat in the swamplands of Florida and explored Key West. Then, off to Colorado for Bethe's June graduation! THANK YOU: To Starlene Duna-Morgan! Due to her post retirement efforts, so many of us girls from Lathrop and the two high schools in Santa Ana are once more in contact. In '02, and again in '04, we spent a weekend in Las Vegas, in September '06 and '08 we enjoyed a Mexico cruise together and plan to do something else exciting in '10. Also, every year in February all who of us who are in the area meet for lunch, so if you're going to be in Southern California next February and would like to join us, email me for the time and place.
