Lynnet's Story
I graduated in 1979!!!
Looking back on my years at William Penn, I had some great times. However, I had to get out of Harrisburg in order to survive. I have lived in Maryland for more than 27 years. I can get in my car and drive to many of the wonderful events all over the Washington Metro area--most are less than 40 minutes away. I play co-ed softball, football, and basketball. I also do kickboxing and my daughter does karate!!!
The diversity is awesome. I work for a large school system in which students come from more than 163 countries! I want this for my children. In Harrisburg groups were formed and when I went outside of my group I was laughed at. My mother raised me to look at a person's heart to see if it reaches their eyes.
My children don't have to worry about going outside a group and have the freedom to pick because of a person's heart.
While I love living in Maryland, I will ALWAYS be a Cougar, Steelers, Penguin, Pirates, and Sixers fan--HDTV!!! I enjoy coming back for some of the Cougar games, ...Expand for more
although they don't pack the house like we did when I was in school.
I am very active in my union and have a bachelor's degree in union leadership and administration. I am also working toword a master's in science in Organization and Development from American University. I didn't want to go to college when I first came out of school. I actually don't need the degree because I am in the IT business and make a great salary. I will be able to retire in 9 years for a full retirement plan, but can't draw on it for another 14 years. So I will probably start my own business with the degrees:-)
To all my former classmates, I wish you the best and hope you are truly happy and enjoying life! I am. I haven't attended any class reunions because during my senior year I had some really rotten comments come my way, so I just left everyone alone. My twin wanted me to come each time, but I didn't. Maybe I will the next time.
