Maisha's Story
Life
My life? Well, I was supposed to go to Iraq once upon a year...but that changed once I found out I was going to be a mom in 2007. Given the choice between life with my new family and a military career, I chose my child and got honorably discharged out of the Army in January of 07. I then went on to marry, and have a son in 2009. Now I will come into the new year as a single, yet okay woman.
School
Well....I have a lot of good, as well as a lot af bad memories of school. I loved hanging out with my friends after school, and I also loved to crack jokes. There were some times where I was made to feel like an outcast or a geek, but hell, it made me stronger than ever. I liked all my teachers, but the ones who inspired me most were Mr. Pykare, Ms. Johnson, and Mr. Keister. They were there when I nee...Expand for more
ded them most, and they really helped me out along the way. But if I could do it over again, I wouldn't. After all, once is enough!
Military
Well, I joined the US Army in June 2005, and I completed 4 months of basic training in Fort Jackson, SC. Next I moved on to my advanced individual training (AIT), which was in Fort Gordon, GA (right outside Augusta, GA). My first and last duty station was Fort Hood, TX, right outside of Killeen. Sure, the hours were long and the training was a pain sometimes, but I'm glad that I made the choice to join the military. I now have a better life, and I've done what so many people back in school thought I couldn't: become successful in life. Those same people are the ones who made me a stronger person for it. After all, success is the very best revenge one could have!
