Marci's Story
Life
Google me!
I've tirelessly toured the Midwest in recent years. After high school, I moved to Indiana to attend Ball State University. (fellow alum include David Letterman, Jim Davis, and Bob "happy little trees" Ross)
I received my Bachelor of Social Work in 2000 with minors in Sociology and Women's Studies. I took leadership roles in an array of campus groups such as residence hall council, Homecoming Steering Committee, Mortar Board, student government, Student Social Workers Association, and Alpha Lambda Delta. Through my studies and activities, I grew a love for community organizing and social activism. (Thinking back, I've always loved it- just didn't ever define what it was that I've been doing!) Senior year, I interned at Teamwork for Quality Living, a volunteer-run organization dedicated to improving quality of life in Delaware County, Indiana. I also volunteered at the Hoosier Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross- as a Volunteer and Youth Development Assistant. My favorite task was ...Expand for more
developing and teaching a safety/first aid workshop for Girl Scouts!
After graduating from Ball State University, I headed straight to graduate school at the University of Michigan. There, I interned at the Southeastern Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross in Youth Services. I also became active in the fight to protect affirmative action as well as the rights of undocumented workers. After one year at U of M, I received my Master of Social Work in Community Organization and Communities and Social Systems.
I have been the Project Manager at NPower Michigan, a nonprofit dedicated to helping Michigan nonprofits use technology to serve their communities better.
I moved to Denver in 2006. I now work for Rose Community Foundation doing communications, database and technology stuff.
Hey, this sort of read like a resume! On a more personal note... what do I do in my free time?? Volunteer at the Denver Botanic Gardens, playing in a community band, knitting (poorly) and just enjoying living in Denver.
