Marci's Story
Hey Eagles!!!
Well, let's see....how can I summarize 33 years of living? Let's start with right after high school.
Remember Joyce Friedmann? Well after graduation, she and I travelled up north in her green Opal Manta, all the way to the border of Canada. We had a good time together and Joyce taught me to drive stick-shift. We are still great friends after all these years!
I then went to UCLA and earned my BA in Psychology, travelled to Israel, Europe, Scandinavia, Turkey, and Egypt, then went to Cal State L.A. and earned my teaching credentials in regular ed. and special ed. (severely handicapped). In 1985, I moved to Israel and worked as a bilingual (English and Hebrew) office manager for an American software development company. I lived in Israel for 7 years, was married there and had my first daughter, Sapir in 1991. I lived up north in a resort-type town called Nahariya and was there during the Gulf War. It was pretty scary. While in Israel, I lost both my parents; my mom in 1986 and my dad in 1989. Those were some of th...Expand for more
e most difficult times in my life.
I moved back to L.A. in 1992 and began teaching for the L.A. Unified School District. My second daughter, Maya, was born in 1993. I was divorced in 1995 and it was a very liberating decision for me. My daughters, my dog Mike and I moved back to my parents' home in Norwalk and lived there with my sister Alissa, her daughter Hadar and her husband. Alissa later divorced and the 5 of us girls moved to Cerritos, where we currently live.
I have been working in the ABC Unified School District for 11 years as a Transition Teacher for developmentally disabled young adults. I LOVE my work and my students!!!
My sister and I are the Music Directors for the International Peace Choir. It is a ton of work, but I really enjoy the message of peace, brotherhood and unity that our choir is all about.
Also, I have been teaching music at our synagogue for the past 10 years and it is a great gig!
Whew! TMI!!!!
If you read this far...you deserve a medal!!
Drop me a line if you get a chance and take care!!
Peace.
