Life Well, here's 47 years in a nutshell. I worked as a clerk-typist for a couple of years after graduation, then married Rudy Hebein. Together we had two children, Rudy, now 45, and Chrissy, now 42. We divorced in 1968 and for the next five years I worked at the GE/Hotpoint Plant in Milwaukee, assembling dishwashers. In 1973 I became a student at MATC in the Community Ed. Program and transferred To UW-Milwaukee in 1974. I graduated with a BS degree in 1978 and a MS degree in 1980, both in Speech/Language Pathology. During that time I worked various part-time jobs while raising my kids and going to school. Though money was scarce, I loved being a student and believe this was one of the best periods of my life. After working for the Milwaukee Public School System for four years, I met my future second husband, Ron Sorensen. In the summer of 1984, with one child married and the other in college, Ron and I took off, touring the West and settling in Escondido, CA. In the summer of 1985 while coming back to WI and Ill for a visit, we stopped over at friends in Grand Junction, CO and I submitted my resume to the local school district.
