Marcia's Story
Life
As planned, I went to UNI and became a French teacher. As unplanned, I substituted "forever" in Bettendorf before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1980 and then to the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota in 1981, where I taught Spanish and Geography.
Currently we reside in Lake View, IA where I taught Geography & U.S.History for 15 years. My current title is ad junct instructor of US History at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. I'm married to a county naturalist and dragonfly expert, whom I met and married during our days at UNI.

and a props expert in the theater, as is our very talented son-in-law! They consider New York City "home", but both take occasional jobs elsewhere.
My "spare time" has been consumed for the past 36 years by my Girl Scout troops, as well as reading, canoeing, needlework, biking, and camping. I also am the self-proclaimed genealogist for my branch of the McKown family. And the Secretary for the American Indian Scouting Association. Some days I even sleep!
We love to travel and spend much of our summers doing just that, between chasing dragonflies and helping at the A.I.S.A.'s annual seminar.!
