Marcy's Story

I am currently living in Kansas City, MO after 3 horrible years taking care of my mother who we now know had Alzheimers. People who know me, know how I feel about her. I am grateful for my sister who took her to an assisted living facility and set me free to live my life again. I came to KC as a last resort because going home to NJ was financially impossible at the time. I am hoping to go back to school for my MFA in creative writing as that is what I have identified as my primary positive quality. I'm an avid reader of just about every book, I love vampire novels and anything about werewolves and shapeshifters, because they nothing to do with me. I like living alone, but get lonely and am looking for the man of my dreams once again. I've been looking for a few years, even though I've been divorced for ten. It took me a long time to get over the damage he did to my soul. I have my BA and my MA in psychology and though I don't use them, they assist me in writing the book I am trying to finish. I'd like to go back to school to polish what I think is a creative ability. I love getting in touch with old friens from high school, college and old work places. I worked at Fairleigh Dickinson's Dental School until its demise on June 30, 1990. It was hard thing to get over, the people there were like my family. But the bitterswee...Expand for more
t part is that I was able to get my degrees for free for 3 years. It was an enormous opportunity that came with a heavy price, my divorce. I'm getting used to KC, but I long to go home within 5 years. I miss my home, friends and family that still reside in Northern NJ and New York City. I've lived in many places, since high school. I've lived in Orlando for four months with an ex-boyfriend until there was an F4 tornado that came close to killing us. The first F4 in 75 years of Orlando history. I'm a Jerseygirl, we don't get that stuff. I don't mind snow, but that unexpected stuff, like tornados and earthquakes scare me to death. I know, I live in tornado central, but I guess that's why it is so cheap to live here. I've lived in upstate NY from 1998 to 2006. I lived in Troy, NY which was where I left when my ex tried to kill me and broke my favorite computer. I ran to Florida and began to take care of my mother. At the same time my ex-husband was dying of cancer and I went to see him one last time. Part of me will always love him because I realize how damaged he was. But I'm in the process of letting all that history go. I'm looking for my one true (healthy) love. If he's still out there. I think he is. I'm a lot more suspicious though and I listen to my intuition. I've been through hell, but I am back and better than ever.
