Margaret's Story
[NOTE: NAME ABOVE SHOULD BE Margaret Callender-CLYNE. "Story" updated November 15, 2014.]
Wow! I have SO MUCH to share! God has been very good to me and I give Him all the praise!
Who am I? I'm the person who used to commute from Montclair to Essex Fells every morning. I had transferred from Barrington College in Rhode Island and probably had a bit of an attitude at Northeastern because it was so much smaller. I was a member of St. Mark's METHODIST Church, and I think I remember a few raised eyebrows when I said what church I attended. In those days I got the impression that if you were really a born-again Christian, you went to a more "evangelical" church. The classmates I remember best were Elva Craig, Gerry Sherman, Paul Coffey, and Renetta Isom -- the girl with the beautiful voice. I worked on the "Harvester" Yearbook.with a real nice guy, whose face I remember, but not his name.
Where have I been? Briefly (which is not easy for me, but I'll try), I moved to St. Thomas, USVI after Graduation. (After the SECOND graduation, because I think I remember graduating twice!. 1964 and 1965, OR 1963 and 1964)
Anyway, I helped establish a small "Christian Day School" in St. Thomas at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in the '60's. It is still in operation today. Soon after that, I got married and had three childre...Expand for more
n. We relocated to New Jersey while they were still young and now that they are adults, my husband and I are retired in his birthplace: Tortola, British Virgin Islands. Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful!
At age 60, I worked as Church Administrator at my current church in Tortola, BVI -- New Life Baptist Church -- and "retired" again five years later. I helped establish the church's first "Day Care and Learning Center", and later a Preschool. Both are still in operation and growing.
Presently, I teach Sunday School, write books (I am in the process of RE-publishing a children's book. Also, "How to Live Holy" was self-published March 2014 and is available online at crossbooks.com and lifeway.com, etc.). I attend a Senior Citizens Program a couple times a week). We took an Eastern Caribbean cruise this year. Spectacular!
I have seven grandchildren whom I love dearly, celebrated my 75th birthday last year with a get-together that I called "Peggy's Praise Party!" and celebrated #76 with family last night!! I am still challenged by technology, but plugging along.
And that's the best "briefly" I've ever done. I believe in the power of intercessory prayer, so I'm asking that whoever reads this story will pray for me and my family: continued good health, blessings indeed, and Godly influence for His glory. Thank you!
