Margaret's Story
Singer/Actress. Married John Wilkerson, singer/actor/director in 1993. We live in Farmers Branch, Texas after 12 years in NYC and NJ-B'way, nat'l tours, concerts etc. Moved to start producing theatre here, with offer from an investor to underwrite the project. That fell through, but we stayed and love it. John's not fond of the heat (from VA.) However, he loves the extended golfing opportunities (and no snow to shovel!) Very competitive and sports oriented-particularly football-a Redskins fan in Cowboy country. His son, Michael went to Holy Cross on a football scholarship-he loved that! He currently tours with The Three Redneck Tenors. Visit their website-great show. Visit ours for info on local performances (rare) and our Musical Theatre Institute. We teach voice and acting out of our home and have designed a unique musical theatre summer camp unlike any other here. All instructors have NY experience-we fly in a Rockette for one camp-the kids love that! Our 12 year old son, Shafer, still loves bagels and cream cheese, but has become "Texanized." Smart, funny, sweet, well-mannered boy. He dabbles in the family business-super g...Expand for more
ifted, but may lack the passion-not impressed with it all. Considering law school or pop stardom, if the whole spy thing falls through. (Though A&M vet school just made the list.)Miss some things about our time in the wilds of NJ. Close to NYC for auditions/ work, but green, good schools, pick-up trucks and wildlife. Like...bears and...giant groundhogs. Taught the locals some Southern hospitality and introduced them to homemade hush puppies. Performed Vegas to Tokyo to playing a nun for a 1 1/2 years in the Broadway revival of "The Sound of Music"-glamour! Did 1st National of "Kiss Me Kate." Played title role many times-it was GREAT. Leading man-Rex "You Take My Breath Away" Smith. (Still have that 45 rpm!) Then cast in John's tour of "South Pacific"-traveled as a family. Yea!Fun, except for the nanny who loved Americans too much, and Robert Goulet's lecherous ways. Ugh. Would love to hear from old classmates. Love being back in Texas with family and old and new friends. A place where people are friendly, say "Yes ma'am," and serve biscuits in restaurants.(The driving, however-Yowza!) Thanks to everyone who believed in me.
