Marianna's Story
Life
Went to Longwood. Met my husband, Andy, in 1992; moved back to VABCH and got married in 1996. We both worked for GEICO (he still does). We weren't really interested having kids; however, in 2002 my biological clock started ticking and I had my oldest, Xander, in June 2003.
We moved to Honolulu for 14 months; it was at this time that I quit GEICO and became a full-time stay-at-home mom (it was more cost effective than working and getting daycare). Xander and I loved it; Andy, not so much. We came back to the mainland and moved to Fredericksburg in Nov. 2005. I was 5 months pregnant and gave birth to Spencer in March 2006.

a few miles away as is my brother, John and his family.
Xander was diagnosed with autism in May 2006, 1 month before his 3rd birthday. It's been an eye-opening experience and has taught me much patience(at least w/my children). Xander just turned 5 starts kindergarten Fall of 2008 and will be in an inclusion class.
Spencer just turned 2 and is quite a character. If he was our first-born, we would've caught Xander's autism much earlier. Whereas Xander has very little expressive, back-and-forth communication, Spencer started speaking in complete sentences before he was 2, can count to 30, knows his letters and sounds and is trying to read and write. Having the 2 extremes is often frustrating.
