Marie's Story
Me? Well, I've lived an interesting life! At least for me. I have tried never to have a dull moment and at times I probably created drama in my own life (and that of others!). I married right out of high school and continued on to college. I eventually graduated with a doctorate in Counseling after having had three sons. My husband used to say that he promised to see that I graduated from college but that he just did not know what I meant! He watched me graduate, and he watched me graduate and he watched me graduate. We had our first son, 4 years after we married and then we had another son in 4 years and another in 4 years. Now, I have 6 grandchildren. My youngest son is a teacher at this time. igh School for the first 20 plus years of my career and then went to the college level teaching at Jacksonville State University. I taught one year at Valdosta State University in Georgia and finished my career with almost 10 years in Georgia at the University of West Georgia. My college teaching days were a joy. I truly enjoyed them. I taught counseling and also spent some years working as a Licensed Professional Counselor in a clinical setting. I came home from Georgia when I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to spend some time in chemo and radiation. I had broken my ankle a few months before that and also had a diagnosis of diabetes. All of that slowed me down for a while but I'm trying to remain active enough to truly enjoy life!
How do my old friends remember me? I truly hope they remember me as a good friend and a good listener and fun to be with. How about it?
