I was on the 30-year education plan, attending Highline Community College after high school. After graduating with my AA in 1976, I "took a year off" to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. I guess I decided I didn't really want to grow up, because I didn't go back to school for another 15 years. Instead, I married Mike Saunderson in 1977, whom I'd met at HCC. Together we had three great kids: Matthew (1981), Daniel (1983) and Katie (1985). When Katie started first grade, I finally went back to school, at Seattle Pacific University. I graduated Magnum Cum Laude in 1995 with degrees in Family Services with a minor in Psychology and Apparel Design.
